Our gorgeous Donald Ross-designed course has undergone a much needed facelift. All 18 greens have been resurfaced with MiniVerde, a Bermuda-type grass that's tolerant to heat and can be cut low without disease. Working from original drawings and notes, the greens have been restored to their original characteristics. Some were lengthened slightly where possible. Many of the greenside bunkers were made more menacing.

MiniVerde ultradwarf grass is in use at only four courses in the state of Florida, including TPC Sawgrass. MiniVerde provides an excellent putting surface with fine leaf blades, short internodes and high shoot density. MiniVerde allows our superintendent to battle encroachment issues on the edge of the collar instead of the green. This grass will provide you with the truest putts in the Tampa area!
Dunedin Golf Club utilizes four sets of tees:

"It's still a traditional Donald Ross design," says course superintendent Allen Brissenden, who oversaw the $300,000 project. "We did very little to change the layout. We had to raise up some of the greens because it would be totally impossible to hold a shot with the slope they had. And we redid some of the bunkers. But they still have that Donald Ross flare to them."
How does it play? Quite well, thank you...This is a Northern Style course, with wind off the Gulf of Mexico, hilly terrain, a "Donald Ross" layout and Ross greens. The small "Rossian" greens make approach shots and up and downs critical. You must think your way around this course. There are plenty of opportunities to gamble with big rewards if successful and big penalties should you fail. Par-5's are reachable and many of the doglegs can be cut.
Combining the weather and the "Ross factor" and you're likely to get a different play every day of the year!
If you forget where you are, there's a reminder at the first tee, emblazoned in bronze. "You are at the tee from which some of the world's greatest athletes have teed off. And don't forget to smell the flowers."
Take a course tour with Head Professional John Falcone...The distinctive layout has a great, old-fashioned look. The first four holes are four of the toughest in the Bay area. From the championship tees, you start with a 424- yard, slight dogleg left. Then, at the second hole, you hit a 446-yard bear of a hole, downhill first and then a gently sloping uphill approach shot. Your next challenge is a 185-yard par-3 with four bunkers that will snatch any wayward shot. There is no letup at the 433-yard fourth. This sharp dogleg right is guarded by tall trees which, if you don't clear them, leave you literally "in the woods."
"Rossed!" At the straight uphill 366-yard fifth, you can relax a bit, as long as you hit it straight. This and the succeeding four holes all require both accurate drives and middle or short irons because the small greens with sloping edges and the bunkers can take a sudden toll if you miss a shot. Dunedin Golf Club members have a favorite phrase: "I was Rossed," they'll say when an approach shot hits the front of an elevated green and either stops dead or rolls back down to the fairway if the ball has any backspin.

"Coming home!" The back nine gives golfers opportunities to repair any scoring damage incurred on the front nine. It starts with a par-5 that offers a great chance for birdie. The 12th hole at 335 yards and the 13th at 389 yards both offer birdie chances. Then at the 14th you have the opportunity to gamble if so inclined. If you feel brave, you can be rewarded with a chance at eagle on this 356-yarder. All that's required is a 250-yard carry over a lake and some trees to a small, blind green. Those not so brave can elect to play this hole as a dogleg around the lake. The 15th is a 483-yard par-5 that once again challenges the gambler. If you can hug the edge of Curlew Creek with your drive, you can reach the green with a well-struck second shot. Perhaps Ross saved his best hole for last. Number eighteen takes off out of a tree-lined chute. Then a well-placed middle-to- long iron is required to put you on the green. But now the fun has just begun. With a severe slope from back to front, this green makes putting a great challenge.
The best part of this Donald Ross jewel of a course is that you'll never get bored playing it. The breezes off the nearby Gulf of Mexico make the course play differently every day (and help keep you cool in the bargain!).
As you walk off the 18th green, you can enter the new clubhouse for food and beverages. The newly refurbished and fully stocked golf shop welcomes your patronage. A brand new fleet of Club Cars assures visitors comfortable transport around the rolling course. We also offer an extensive teaching and club-fitting program.
